About the company

Beginnings of the firm

The trade-mark Lilien Austria was established in 1958 in Wilhelmsburg, inspired by the nearby convent Lilienfeld. At that time the demand for quality porcelain began to grow, which was the fact quickly perceived by the then management of ÖSPAG (Österreichische Sanitär-, Keramik- und Porzellan-Industrie AG) with the leader Mr Conrad H. Lester. They began to produce top quality porcelain for hotels and households. In the late sixties the company ended the production of tableware and started to concentrate only on professional hotel porcelain. In 1967 ÖSPAG became a part of the concern called Keramik Holding Laufen.

Lilien Austria as a member of PLG

In 1997 Lilienporzellan was incorporated in the Swiss group Porzellan Langenthal Gruppe. The production of porcelain was transferred to the Czech republic, concretely to the company Hotelovy porcelan KV a.s. which belonged to Langenthal Gruppe, too. The main role of Lilienporzellan were marketing and sale activities. That’s why a new seat in Vienna was opened. However, four years later the PLG group broke up and the companies filed for bankruptcy.

Development in 21st century

In 2002 the company Hotelovy porcelan Karlovy Vary a.s. was purchased by the Czech firm Polyflex which took over the historical name G. Benedikt. The sale on the Austrian market was provided by the Czech republic until 2003 when G. Benedikt became the owner of Lilien Austria and decided to transfer sale activities back to its new partner. Nowadays you can find the seat of Lilien Austria in Salzburg.
